EDUCATION AT GRACE

Grace Lutheran Church is made up of people set free, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, who are now free to follow the Holy Spirit's call into ministry in the world.  Grace's staff supports everyday ministry working together as a team with all the members of Grace encouraging and supporting members in their ministry through fellowship, worship, service, outreach, and discipleship.

 Power Hour

staffPower Hour is an education time when the POWER of God is experienced in a wonderful way, during the HOUR between

Sunday worship services at Grace. This is one of the most important ministries at Grace, and it takes place from 9:40 am to 10:30 am. Students learn about Jesus and grow in their faith through storytelling, games, art and music.  Power Hour is divided into:
Children of the Spirit (age 3 through 1st grade),
     Kids of the Kingdom
(grades 2 – 6)
     Teens in Christ (7th  – 12th grades).
Several times a year, most Power Hour Students meet together for Kicktime, and experience a time of learning in yet another exciting way.

 Confirmation

staffFollowing our rich Lutheran heritage, GLC sets aside three years for special religious training with 7th, 8th and 9th grade youth.  This program of worship, education, fellowship opportunities and service projects is intended to lead a young Christian to be able to affirm their desire to continue to live in a relationship with God, first established at Baptism.  At the end of their confirmation experience, on Reformation Sunday during their 10th grade year (the last Sunday in October), they profess adult responsibility for their own faith journey.  Classes meet on Wednesdays, September through May, and include worship time, large group presentations and small group discussion.

 Adult Education

staffWe never get too old to learn more about God's love. An adult class is offered during the education hour,

(9:40 – 10:30am) every Sunday, from Sept – May. Additional opportunities (like Bible studies, circles, discussion groups and more) are also offered periodically, with details announced in the Ways of Grace, the Ministry Minutes. This ministry also oversees GraceTime, Individual Spiritual Growth Opportunities and the Library ministries.

 Gracetime

staffThe Adult Education Ministry provides this weekly opportunity to study, discuss, learn or reflect about some dimension of our faith-life.  It is the Adult component of Grace’s education ministry, beginning at about 9:40 am (after grabbing a cup of coffee and/or treat) and ending around 10:30 am (in time to attend the late worship service).  Classes are usually held in the Laurel Lounge, but are sometimes relocated to the Chapel.  Both of these spaces are found on the main floor, in the office wing.

 CBS

staff Community Bible Study is a non-denominational, weekly (September through May) opportunity for women.  It is a
wonderful time to worship, learn and fellowship.  Call Becky Guetter (238-1390) for more information.
