PASTORS AND STAFF

Grace Lutheran Church is made up of people set free, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, who are now free to follow the Holy Spirit's call into ministry in the world.  Grace's staff supports everyday ministry working together as a team with all the members of Grace encouraging and supporting members in their ministry through fellowship, worship, service, outreach, and discipleship.

staffSenior Pastor Steven J. Berkeland:
Itis a privilege to serve as pastor at Grace Lutheran Church, and it is a pleasure to welcome you, as you meet the congregation here on the website. I have been a Minnesotan all of my life (with a couple of brief stints in Iowa and Wisconsin) and have been here in Fairmont since December, 2004. I have truly enjoyed the warmth and the kindness of this community, and have found great joy in working and worshipping with God's people in this place called Grace. Feel free to wander around the information you find here, and then, when possible, come and visit Grace in person. You are welcome here anytime!

Peace be with you,
Pastor Steve Berkeland

staffPastor John Heille:
Welcome to Grace, Faith in Jesus Christ begins with the scipture's stories of God's activity in the world. God's Word roots our life into Christ and helps us, as people of faith, see God at work today.

As a pastor, at Grace in Fairmont, it's a privilege to see people in this church live out their faith by sharing Jesus' story. I'm blessed to serve as a pastor in a congregation where so many eagerly share their gifts. I've joined the staff here in 2009 after serving as a pastor in congregations in Minnesota and Wisconsin. If you are in our area please come and join with us in worship and service. Feel free to check out my blog on the scripture readings for the upcoming week

staffVisitation Pastor Neil Christopherson:

After a career as an army chaplain, a parish pastor, a nursing home chaplain and an interim pastor, I was excited in June of 2000, to join the staff of Grace Lutheran Church as Visitation Pastor. Even though I serve Grace only on a part-time basis, I have experienced a warm welcome here, a great staff with which to serve and wonderful congregation that is open to the ministry and mission that Christ has entrusted to us.

It has been a real privilege to minister to many of our shut-ins, the elderly and others who may need pastoral care in their homes or in our area nursing homes and hospitals. It has also been good to participate in some of our Sunday services and funerals as needed.

Should you or someone you know have need of a pastoral call or have questions, please call the church office at 507-238-4418 and I will get back to you.

Along with the Children, Youth and Family Ministry team and numerous faithful servants, we aim to equip parents and children to know Jesus Christ as their Savior, love Him with all their hearts, and serve Him joyfully forever.  We are passionate about providing opportunities for families and children to learn, grow, and own their faith in God.

Ways of Grace Editor - Lori Haugen:

My family and I have been members of Grace since 2003, when we moved from Maine back to Minnesota, where my husband and I both grew up. We loved our time in New England, but was nice to be back among so many Lutherans! I took over the Ways of Grace newsletter in 2007, which allows me to use for the Lord the skills I honed as a newspaper reporter and editor. I aim to create a useful, informative, attractive and accurate newsletter each month. If you have any suggestions or comments or something you'd like included in the newsletter, feel free to contact me.

God's blessings,
Lori Haugen
